Kate and Glen – Hyde Park Barracks – 12 JAN 2016

Sydney wedding photography

Kate and Glenn had a very unique wedding. They decided to have the ceremony at HMAS Watson. A Navy base located in Watson’s Bay. HMAS Watson provides spectacular views, overlooking the harbour and home to a lovely bush setting. Held inside is a small chapel, perfect for small wedding ceremonies such as Kate’s and Glenn’s.  They arrived separately in beautiful Rolls Royce’s. Glenn was first to arrive and waiting anxiously inside for Kate. Kate arrived with her bridesmaids and walked down the isle to marry her future husband.

The chapel itself is a lovely wooden building filled with light. It overlooks the ocean and provides the perfect backdrop for a intimate ceremony such as this. After saying their vows, we did the standard group shot, family shots and bridal party shots. Kate and Glenn and organised a chartered ferry for all their guests to take them to the ceremony. The ferry cruised around Sydney Harbour for nearly 2 hours while their guests were treated to drinks and canapes. During this time, their friends and family were all up for some happy snaps, making good use of the photographer (me!). As the sun was setting, we pulled into Sydney Harbour right near Mr’s Macquarie’s Chair.

By the time we got off the ferry, all natural light had disappeared. Providing a unique and challenging location shoot with Kate and Glenn. Using off camera flash and light modifies, we got some fantastic wedding photographs at The Sydney Opera House, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, NSW State Library and lastly Hyde Park. The wedding photographs at Hyde Park were in fact using 2 off camera flashes. One used as a backlight and the other fired through an umbrella to create lovely soft light. We then arrived at Hyde Park Barracks in the heart of Sydney CBD. There we were treated to a more canape’s, entertainment and dinner outside on a beautiful Autumn night. This was one of the more challenging weddings we have photographed, but as you can see the wedding photographs turned out great!

Here is what Kate had to say on our facebook page – “He was absolutely amazing! I couldn’t recommend him enough. Our wedding photography was more challenging than normal and the photos that I saw on the night surpassed what I could have ever hoped for. I can’t wait to see all the finished photos. Our guests all commented that he was excellent and so lovely to speak to and we couldn’t agree more. Hands down the best photographer!”
